I am a die hard Minnesota Vikings fan. Today, after the loss, I walked outside in the snow, in my bare feet, and lit my Adrian Peterson jersey on fire. I then walked back inside, and screamed profanity at the top of my lungs. Only to get a serious lecture from my parents within a few moments.
I have come to realize, that the Minnesota Vikings have the worst luck in the NFL, most of these flaws, were released in tonight’s game.
1. Brett Favre This man is a beast, but today, he just wasn’t showing what he has been showing this whole season. In the last minute of the game, he snaps the ball, rolls out right, and decides to take a chance. The ball gets picked. That could have been the game for us. We would be heading to Miami, and the Saints wouldn’t.
2. Fumbles It seems like the Vikings weren’t practicing what the Saints were. Getting the ball out of the opponents hands. It happened over and over, Adrian Peterson would fumble the ball, again, and again. Only to go right into the arms of a New Orleans Saint.
3. Referees This game seemed rigged to me. Especially the pass interference call early in overtime that ruined our chances of getting the ball back. The ball was uncatchable, being 15 feet about the receivers head. And the defender barely even touched him. Flags were thrown again and again for us, but it seemed the refs didn’t even notice any of the penalties the Saints were committing.
Those were just a few of the unlucky factors that plaqued the Minnesota Vikings tonight. Here’s a couple more, in the Vikings franchise history.
1. Gary Anderson missing a 38-yard attempt that would’ve put us into the Superbowl in ’98, just after completing the first perfect regular season in NFL history. He didn’t miss a field goal the whole season.
2. 4 Superbowl losses.
3. 5 NFC Championship losses.
4. Korey Stringer dying in training camp.
5. And the infamous Hail Mary pass Drew Pearson caught against the Vikes in ’75 Championship against Dallas to give them the win in the last minute. (Which by the way invented the hail mary.)
6. Oh and even though the Vikings were favored, the 41-0 loss in the NFC Championship in 2000.
I hope by now I’ve convinced you that the Minnesota Vikings deserved this win, but there’s always next year. Unless the Vikes get sold, in which they will become the Los Angeles Vikings (What the fuck?). Oh, and if you think Brett Favre will retire, think again, I’m almost certain he does not want to end his career with his last pass being an interception to lose the NFC Championship.
